Artist Statement

My photography journey started with an entry-level black-and-white film class, where I learned everything about cameras, compositions, and darkroom photography. I immediately fell in love with the process and started to hone my style, with the black and white medium accentuating the shadows and curves that I sought to capture. My understanding of photography is an expression of perception, and I love shots with a composition that compliments its content. The most appealing photos to me are of people, whether in their element or starkly out of it. Capturing the abnormal is a grounding experience for me, and I aim to convey that comfort in irregularity.

Starting to shoot digitally opened a whole new world of opportunities with the unlocking of Adobe Photoshop. Now proficient in a plethora of Adobe tools, I enjoy abstract pieces as well, playing with photographs not just in the camera but out of it. I enjoy experimenting with new techniques that can transform my work beyond the standard still into a body in of itself. This passion has lead me to take interest in cinematography and my film skills, contributing to projects as an editor, color grader, and even actor. My love for photography is driven by my desire to capture and share the world I love to immerse myself in.
